PHOTOS: The Benefit for Scott Marshall
Seven bands. A couple dozen sponsors. Several guest speakers.
One benefit for the ages.
On Sunday, Maingate Nightclub was the place to be in the Lehigh Valley, packing in more than 1,000 people for The Benefit for Scott Marshall, a charity event to support the singer-songwriter and his family as he recovers from cancer.
The day featured musical performances from James Supra Band, Girl Crue, The Cherrybombs, Social Call, The Aardvarks, and two Marshall-fronted groups — Marshall’s Highway and the Band of Survivors, a newly-formed nine-piece made up entirely of cancer survivors. WLVR 91.3’s AJ Fritz (FritzRocks), also a cancer survivor, was the highly-entertaining master of ceremonies for an event that featured raffle donations, a bake sale, and delicious food catered by Steel Pub in Bethlehem.
In addition to a day of brilliant rock and roll performances — really, every band was on its game — highlights included the beautiful spring-like weather, which gave the afternoon a festival-type feel, and the great news from Scott Marshall that, so far, he is showing no signs of cancer recurrence.
The spirit of the day was marked by togetherness. Folks from various circles came to Maingate on Sunday in support of Marshall, and the day took on a feel of unity through cancer awareness. For certain, every person on the premises has been affected in some by cancer, and the atmosphere of the day generated a determination to eradicate the dreaded disease.
In the spirit of the day, we have a ton of photos of the day’s events, appearing below in a single, unified gallery. Enjoy!
