Re-Introducing Kill the Broadcast
Earlier this decade, Kill the Broadcast was one of the most successful original bands on our local scene. The band played multiple Musikfests in their first incarnation, and were recognized as the 2012 winners of WZZO’s now-defunct Backyard Bands competition. In addition, the band had notable gigs in Philadelphia, playing venues including The Grape Room and Legendary Dobbs.
Now, after a long hiatus and a couple of lineup changes, Kill the Broadcast is ready to take themselves to new heights with a brand new sound that pulls elements from prog, psych rock, and funk.
We swung by the band’s practice space on Sunday — affectionately called “The Dungeon” — to catch up with longtime members Anthony Dallarosa (vox/guitar/keys) and John Patterson (drums/vox), and to get introduced to new guitarist Justin Fava and bassist Nick Capozzolo. The guys talked to us about their new direction, as well as their return gig at Shocktoberfest in Sinking Spring on Saturday, October 28. The full interview — as well as two new songs, “Stretching Windows” and and “Rain Dance,” — can be found below.
We helped ourselves to a few rehearsal photos, as well. Check ’em out below!
