A New Year’s Welcome from LVU!
Ladies and gents, welcome to 2018.
For some, today represents an opportunity at a clean slate; to bury old ghosts, and to leave all that didn’t go as planned in the past.
For others, it merely represents a continuation of all that went well in the year before it; a chance to carry momentum and success into the New Year, and to keep building on our dreams and expanding our horizons.
If you’re like most people, chances are it’s a little bit of both.
No matter where you find yourself on this day, know that your opportunity lies not in the past, but the future. Today is the first chapter of the next story you will write. Throughout, there are sure to be twists and turns. Some will be welcome surprises. Others will not.
Through it all, it is you and you alone who will determine where your story goes from each pivotal point that arises over the next 365 days. We encourage you to make those choices count.
And, within this community, LVU is with you every step of the way. Best of luck!
Now that our season of reflection is officially over, it’s time for us here at Lehigh Valley Underground to turn our attention to the future. We achieved and exceeded all of our goals last year, and we want to let you know right now that we are All In on 2018.
So, with no further delay, here’s what we think that will mean for us in the coming year…
More performance opportunities: Of course, #LVUFirstFriday rolls right along into the New Year, with the first one taking place this Friday in South Bethlehem. And then, two weeks later, there’s this truly Spectacular party we’re throwing down at SteelStacks. Tickets are available here.
Trust us – that is only the beginning!
We are cooking up even more opportunities for our music community in 2018, and we have a feeling that you’ll be hearing about the first new one very shortly into the year. Keep an eye out!
A stronger community presence: Lehigh Valley Underground was only as strong as the community around it in 2017 – and we had some amazing people from whom to draw strength and inspiration!
Between countless incredible partners including (but not limited to) SouthSide Arts District, Fig Bethlehem, Godfrey Daniels, and Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, and of course, the growing army of talented musicians surrounding us, we feel good about what we’re building here as a collective.
We want to do become even more ingrained in our community this year, finding new community partners while continuing to build LVU into a platform that can better support our local music and arts community.
More of you, hearing our voices: We launched WLVU: The Sound of The Underground back in June, and we’ve spent the past several months tinkering with our music and programming to get the station primed and ready for more ears in 2018. We have plans to up our game – and maybe to host a fun, clever event or two – and increase the station’s presence throughout the year.
More video: Not only did we have an absolute blast getting together at Studio 73 to record our Best of 2017 video series, but we’re really proud of our work, and we want to do more of it! As Lehigh Valley Underground continues to expand as the year progresses, expect what you see here to become more dynamic.
So, there you have it! Hold us to those goals, let us know yours, and we’ll plan on having many more successes to reflect upon together at the end of 2018.
Happy New Year!
Now, let’s get to work…
