Reflections on Turning 2
Two years. More than 1,100 articles. 2,000+ Facebook followers. Hundreds upon hundreds, upon thousands of photos. Independent musicians featured of every genre, near and far.
And that’s just the online stuff.
Two years ago today, Lehigh Valley Underground officially opened its digital doors to the world for the first time. Since then, we’ve been doing our best to cover all corners of our music community. We’ve gotten to know you, covered your shows, reviewed your albums, and had a blast at festivals. Sometimes, we’ve courted controversy. Through it all, we’ve remained dedicated to serving this community, and making it a more vibrant, supportive place.
Over the past year in particular, so many groundbreaking things have begun to take shape. We launched a 24/7 internet radio station. began our beautiful partnership with Fig Bethlehem, which led us to team up with SouthSide Arts District to bring music to South Bethlehem every First Friday. Speaking of South Bethlehem, we recently announced that we’ll be doing the same with ArtsQuest one weekend in April. The future of LVU — and in general, for this community we call home — continues to look bright, and it’s because of the collaborative spirit that becomes more prominent with each passing day.
Tomorrow night, we’ll celebrate that collaborative spirit and how far we’ve all come together. We’re ready to bring you an amazing night of live music and community at our 2nd Birthday Spectacular on Friday night at SteelStacks, and I ask you, on the eve of the biggest night in our history, to make plans to join us if you haven’t already.
We look forward to continuing to grow the Lehigh Valley Underground platform for months and years to come. Thanks for being on the ride with us so far — and buckle up, because it’s about to get even more exciting!
