PHOTOS: Lehigh Valley Underground 2nd Birthday Spectacular

What a truly Spectacular evening!

On Friday night, we commemorated two years of serving our local music scene inside of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks’ Blast Furnace Room in South Bethlehem. We had new merch. We had birthday cake. We had fantastic performances from (in order of appearance) Kara Hartzell, Kill The Broadcast, and Dear Anna.

Most of all, we had many of you in the room to celebrate with us!

The music community’s biggest party of the New Year played host to more than 100 local musicians and supporters, who came together to rally around the cause of local, original music in the Greater Lehigh Valley.

It was an absolute thrill to share this night with so many of our closest friends. Two years ago, we didn’t know any of you; we merely saw a need for more robust local music coverage in the region, and thought we could address it. Post by post, show by show, and festival by festival, we got to know you. You’ve welcomed us into your homes and lives, you’ve put your trust in us, and you have continued to inspire us to do our part to build a stronger, more vibrant community around local music.

If you would have told me, two years ago, that we’d be celebrating our second birthday with the iconic Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces right behind us, I don’t know if I would have believed you. Yet, it is because of you that it became possible.

Special thanks to our performers and volunteers, as well as our sponsors, SouthSide Arts District and Bootleg Sound. Thank you to the hard-working professionals at ArtsQuest for not only letting us host this party in their space, but for being as accommodating as humanly possible.

Most of all, thank you for giving us the greatest night (so far) in our young history. We look forward to many more to come!
