Earlier this year, Neil Grover released “Politics,” a single from his then-forthcoming “Whoa” EP, as an outlet to the anger we all feel in situations that require us to keep a level head and a straight face.

Bethlehem-based rock band The Beautiful Distortion is one of 60 acts that received a call-back to audition for the “Music Under New York” (MTA MUSIC) program in May. MTA MUSIC provides more than 7,500 performances each year at approximately 30 locations throughout the New York City subway system. Every spring, MTA MUSIC presents a day of invite-only auditions in Manhattan to review and add new performers to their official roster.

The community is invited to submit their best photos of Musikfest over the years for the Musikfest 35th Anniversary Photography Exhibition, set for July 6-Sept. 2 at the Banana Factory.
GRAMMY-winning guitar virtuoso Gary Clark Jr. and indie-pop sweethearts GROUPLOVE will rock Musikfest when they perform at the Sands Steel Stage Wed., Aug. 8, 7 p.m. and Thurs., Aug. 9, 7 p.m., respectively. Tickets for the Gary Clark Jr. performance are $39-$59, and tickets for the GROUPLOVE concert are $25-$39. They go on sale starting today, May 29, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., June 1, 10 a.m., to the public at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.

The prime time of the year arrived in a big way this past weekend, with festivals, official openings, and more. Now, it continues with a particularly stacked weekend of programming that promises something for everybody.

The following is a piece by Carlos Barata, guitarist/vocalist for The Hook. The Hook will perform an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention fundraiser alongside Dogwood Last and Terez this Friday, June 1 at Godfrey Daniels as part of the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series.
We wrapped up our holiday weekend at the Great Pennsylvania Music and Arts Celebration (PennMArt) where we began it, at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmerama Stage.
Not only that, but we invited a few friends back to end the weekend with us.
By the time Sunday night came around at this weekend’s Great Pennsylvania Music and Arts Celebration (PennMArt), it was time to rock.
We had absolutely no trouble making that happen with some help from our friends.
