A new era of live music kicked off at Rivals Sports Bar & Restaurant in Easton on Thursday night, as WLVU: The Sound of The Underground, The Balcony Show, and Gig Digger Music Bookings and Events teamed up to present the first-ever edition of Sounds of The Underground: Live!
The series’ maiden voyage, set to take place the first Thursday of every month, featured a variety of performers from in and around the Lehigh Valley. The evening started with the acoustic stylings of Leah Marie Fuls, who enjoyed an extended set comprised primarily of covers with some originals mixed in.
Fuls got the crowd warmed up for From the Dark River, a groovy hard rock band fronted by Doug Kaetz and comprised of members of The Crowning. Kaetz impressed with his strong and versatile vocal abilities, with the band’s original material standing out as an intriguing hybrid of styles.
The evening’s main event came next, with Stroudsburg’s The Crowning delivering a powerful, high-octane set of their original hard, progressive rock. The band’s intense set capped the night with a special kind of energy, accented in particular by the presence of axe man Ace Hendrix.
