Kristen Morgenstern: ‘I Have Many Close Family Members That Have Gone Through the Battle’
We are now within a week of the American Cancer Society’s Wings & Strings benefit on Saturday, July 28. The day-long event will feature local food, local beer, and local music from an all-star lineup of the Valley’s performers.
One of those performers, Kristen Morgenstern, typically sings with soul group Desire. This Saturday, she’ll briefly join Scott Marshall & Marshall’s Highway onstage, and took some time out to chat about the cause with us.
How did you come to be involved with the American Cancer Society’s Wings & Strings Benefit?
I’ve done a couple shows with Scott Marshall and when he asked me do the Wings and Strings benefit, it hit close to my heart. So, I said I would be honored to be a part of it.
Why is it important to you to support the cause?
Like so many other families worldwide, I have many close family members that have gone through the battle. Luckily, they have all come out survivors from breast, colon, and skin cancer.
What can we expect from your set this Saturday?
I will be singing a couple songs with Scott Marshall and the band. It’s always a honor to be sitting in with Scott and the band, especially for such a great cause
What else do you have going on musically?
I will be performing with my band, Desire, at our summer concert series. We are also working on our third CD. If you want to see and hear more, you can find our schedule at desiresings.com and on ReverbNation.
