After a rainy, stormy, humid week, things cleared up just in time for a beautiful day for a cause at Hellertown’s Dimmick Park.

The inaugural American Cancer Society Wings & Strings Benefit took place Saturday afternoon, welcoming hundreds to Hellertown for local beer, local food and, of course, local music, from artists of varying genres from multiple states.

The afternoon started with the tender acoustic tunes of New Jersey’s Amanda Fama, before moving into the ambient soul of R&B duo Sea Rae and DJ. From there, we moved to a solo performance from Billy Bauer of Billy Bauer Band, before kicking things into high gear with New York rockers Dave Goddess Group.

As afternoon gave way to evening, attendees enjoyed the country rock stylings of Scott Marshall & Marshall’s Highway. Marshall, who organized the day’s performances, brought up a multitude of special guests for surprises throughout the set. That gave way to the Mississippi Pig Farmers, led by Glenn Wasserman and bringing a dose of blues to the day.

Closing out the evening were The Ultra Kings, whose tight rockabilly tunes provided a perfect cap to the evening as the sun set in the distance.
