Ceramic Animal on Musikfest: “Soak it all in”
Philly-based indie rockers Ceramic Animal are no strangers to the Lehigh Valley or Musikfest. The foursome will perform at their fourth Musikfest this year, with three performances (and a main stage opening slot for Kesha) on tap.
We caught up with the guys, to get a veteran perspective on the nation’s largest free outdoor music festival.
How many years have you attended Musikfest?
We are from the area, so we have been going to Musikfest for years. 2015 was our first performance.
What is your favorite thing about Musikfest, year after year?
You can’t beat good food and tons of music. It’s always nice to see friends perform, and watch bands we know grow to bigger and bigger stages each year.
What are you looking forward to this year?
We are playing a bunch of great stages this year — Plaza Tropical (Sunday, 8/5 at 9:30 p.m.), Levitt Pavillion (Saturday, 8/11 at 7 p.m.), and opening for Kesha on the Sands Steel Stage (Tuesday, 8/7), which will be rad. It will be great to go see a bunch of our friends perform too: The Mysteries, Sixteen Jackies, RFA, and Tioga, just to name a few.
What does the opportunity to perform at Musikfest mean to you?
We are honored to be asked back to such a great event, year after year. Growing up less than an hour away makes us feel like we are hometown boys representing Eastern PA, which is a lot of fun for us.
What would you tell someone performing at Musikfest for the first time?
It’s going to be over before you know it, so soak it all in. Show up early, stay late, and catch as many other bands as you can.
