PHOTOS: Top Writer Series at True Music Room

Last Tuesday, a new kind of writers round came to downtown Nashville.

Good Night Music, a division of Nashville-based AGD Entertainment, will host the Top Writer Series every Tuesday evening beginning at 6 p.m. at True Music Room & Bar, located on the 5th floor of the downtown Cambria Hotel.

The competition features two open rounds of emerging songwriters performing their best original material. A winner and runner-up are selected by a presenting publisher each week, with the artist who earns the night’s top honors receiving an invitation to the Top Writer Showdown, occurring every third month, and a $25 True Music Room gift card.

On April 2, Good Night Music welcomed Demolition Publishing to welcome eight acts — Nate DiRuzza, Reverie Rosie, Josh Mack, Erin Jarvis, Patrick Miller, Theo Halls, Ava Paige, and Raquel Telfer — to the competition. The evening’s top honors went to Ava Paige — a country artist who just released her latest single, “Prettier Poison,” on March 29 — while the impressive Americana sister duo of Reverie Rosie earned the runner-up nod.

After the competition, those in attendance were treated to a third round of music from a group of featured songwriters that included Liv Charette — who will serve as the series’ host for the month of April — Nora Collins, Michael August, and John Milstead.

We grabbed some photos of last week’s action, and those are below. In the meantime, if you’re wondering how you can get involved in the Top Writer Series, visit AGD Entertainment online.
