Mike Roi: Live at City View Sound

Black Book Magazine in New York City called Roi and the Secret People’s Mike Roi one of the eight greatest up-and-coming artists “who create vibrant, unconventional music in spite of living outside the center of the cool New York.” With his magnetic stage presence, angelic voice, and deft lyrics, he has proven there is no genre he cannot master — from Southern and hard rock, to indie and folk.

Roi has been singing in bands since the age of 16, and has been pursuing his passion for the kind of soulful music he grew up with ever since. He has played up and down the East Coast as well as Europe, and has opened for such renowned acts as The Black Crowes, Midnight Oil, and Marilyn Manson.

In this episode of Live at City View Sound, Mike Roi plays his song “Phoenix,” and talks about his move from the south to the north in search of new musical adventures.

Live at City View Sound connects the face to the voice, the emotion to the artist, and the recordings to a raw performance. This series features artists of all genres, with each episode consisting of a 3-4 minute interview and an acoustic performance. Every artist has a craft and his or her own unique sound.
