Premiere: TOBI to Release Debut Single, ‘Don’t Deny Yourself’

TOBI (real name Ashley Tobias) has been hard at work, spreading music, positivity, and love all over the world. Most recently, she has been achieving this mission as one of the singers in international touring rock band Gogol Bordello since 2017. She has also performed backing vocal duties alongside famed pop artists, including Rachel Platten and Andy Grammer.
Through it all, TOBI has never released her own music… until a week from today.
TOBI’s debut single — “Don’t Deny Yourself” — will hit all streaming outlets next Friday, August 9. The feel-good anthem is a high-powered piece of electropop — think in the vein of Born This Way-era Lady Gaga — that is intended to empower today’s youth to express themselves regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, and to fight against bullying and the nation’s current mental health epidemic. Co-written alongside Harlem-based writing team MRC Riddims, “Don’t Deny Yourself” gives listeners a taste of TOBI’s full vocal capabilities, showcasing the singer’s impressive range and powerhouse talent. In addition to the new single, TOBI is currently touring the European festival circuit with Gogol Bordello. When she returns stateside this fall, she plans on releasing a debut EP in conjunction with her pop rock anti-bullying campaign, Bee True to You, on October 4. Through Bee True to You, TOBI performs to deliver an uplifting message to children in schools across the United States, and received Meaningful World’s International Youth Peace Award at the United Nations in 2016.
