The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Monday, September 30

Earlier this month, we chatted with D.C.-based hip hop artist and actor Intellect (real name Michael Dowd). We talked about his life experience, his message, and how both of those things inform his single, “Scarface Fitted.”
Now, that single is here — and we want you to listen!
With elements of jazz, and even a little bit of Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitar, “Scarface Fitted” is a chance for Intellect to speak the truth about the struggle of trying to win over a hip hop game and an industry which has, at any time, a vast number of suitors vying for attention.
“Every artist and emcee is trying to win the game over. What do you have to do to win that affection,” Intellect asked at the time. “If you love something or someone unconditionally, do you just give up? You don’t. Even through the pain and the rejection, you learn things. You learn more about her as a personality. Hip hop does have a personality in the form of listeners. You learn about that personality, and you try to meet her somewhere in the middle without losing yourself.”
