PHOTOS: The November 2019 Underground Writers Round

When we curate an Underground Writers Round, one focus we have is on the diversity of the lineup. If we do it right, each participant will bring something different to the table, in an effort to showcase the wide world of music that exists right in front of us.
So, if we can toot our own horns for a second… we hit the mark with this one. Friday night’s lineup certainly had a little something for everyone who packed into Nashville’s historic Douglas Corner Cafe.
Those craving some country had a few different shades to choose from, including the infectious pop country tunes of New York native J.Antonette, the witty rockabilly stylings of Seattle-bred Clayton Kaiser, and the soulful Americana of Colorado-born duo Lazer & Levi.
But, what if garage rock is your flavor? Adam Lawrence of The Mad Sugars brought it to the table, with his tongue-in-cheek tales of nightlife misadventures. How about an indie folk vibe? Canadian singer-songwriter Jodi Doidge had that covered, with her crafty song structures and vulnerable storytelling. And, if you wanted to be blown away by bluesy, powerhouse vocals, you were in luck: the incredible Micah Butler wowed us all during 10 p.m. round.
In short, last night was exactly what we envision for UMC and the Underground Writers Round: a platform for musicians and music lovers to come together under one roof and explore something new. Thanks to the performers, the folks at Douglas Corner and, of course, everyone who came out for helping us create that vibe. The photos are below!
