PREVIEW: ‘Women on Fire’ Celebrates One Year at EXIT/IN this Wednesday

Nashville — and, in general, all corners of the music industry and creative space — is filled at every turn with talented women. Some are musicians, others are entrepreneurs, and all of them are working hard to make their way in a world where recognition is often hard to come by.
For the past year, Erin McLendon has provided an opportunity for these female creatives to shine at Nashville’s popular EXIT/IN.
McLendon, an Americana singer-songwriter in her own right, is the host of Erin McLendon’s Women on Fire, an all-female showcase that takes place monthly at EXIT/IN. The event celebrates its anniversary this Wednesday, January 22 at 7 p.m.
Wednesday night’s lineup will feature The HellCats, an all-female house band consisting of McLendon; Caitie Thompson (guitar); Lauren Horbal (guitar); Savannah Wilde (bass); and Debbie Flood (drums), who will provide their support to a lineup featuring folk-pop artist Mary Moore, folk rock singer-songwriter Mel Bryant, indie duo The Daily Fare, and pop-country singer Sheridan Gates.
“I wanted to create a collaborative space that was not just country or pop; I wanted to have something that is open to all genres,” McLendon said. “Not only is this a regularly occurring event, it also showcases female owned and operated businesses in town, who are working just as hard to ‘make it’ as the musicians on stage.”
Women on Fire also shines a spotlight on female-owned businesses in and around Music City. The event provides vendor space to businesses and organizations which are either female owned and operated, or whose cause has a direct positive impact on women.
Tickets to the event are available, and can be purchased at this link for $10 prior to Wednesday, and $15 on the day of the show. For more information and testimonials on the Women on Fire series, visit Erin McLendon’s website.
