The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Friday, January 24

We’re going to send you into the weekend with a piece of vibey nerdcore hip hop, complete with a message for those of us who find ourselves just a little older and (hopefully) wiser.

Creative Mind Frame (a.k.a. 1-UP) is expanding his horizons in 2020 with Dirty 30s, a full album due on March 1 that the rapper says is “for adults with responsibilities.”

The title track, “Dirty 30s,” touches on the realizations we come to as we cross the threshold of the Big 3-0. Included in these verses are thoughts on how to treat the people close to us, manage our personal affairs, and care for ourselves in both a physical and emotional sense. These messages — important, but often difficult to keep in mind in a fast-paced world — are laid over a nostalgic beat that hearkens back to the heyday of new jack swing.

As someone hitting his *gulp* mid-30s in about a month and a half, this one resonates with me. That’s why it’s today’s Daily Spinn!
