The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Tuesday, February 4

Please, let us be the ones to introduce you to Dane & The Soup!

The six-piece retro soul band hails from Tulsa, OK, and is led by vocalist Dane Arnold and guitarist Johnny Mullenax, who perform alongside Bishop Marsh (trumpet), Dominick Marcell Stephens (trombone), Jordan Hehl (bass), and Christopher Peters (drums).

Dane & The Soup just released their debut single, “Crown & Weed,” which is said by the band to be about “the dysfunction of modern day romance.” The track’s slow, Delta Blues-inspired groove fits its narrative well, as Arnold sings with the anguish of a man stuck in a cycle of debauchery and troubled romantic affairs. Adding an extra hint of ominous flavor is Bobby Moffett Jr., whose organ work chimes in to add a layer of palpable tension.

This right here is a special Daily Spinn. Listen below!
