The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Wednesday, Feburary 12

Last month, we were introduced to the dynamic future pop sounds of Richard String, the original music project of Handmade Productions’ Gavin Shea.

As it turns out, that was just the beginning. Gavin plans to release a new single as Richard String on the first Friday of every month in 2020. The latest, “HopesUp,” just dropped on Feb. 7.

The new single combines the synth-driven sound with which we became familiar on the preceding single, with a dash of the innovative, future-funk quirkiness that helps contemporaries like Foster the People stand out from the pack. All of this — plus a brief spoken word-meets-hip hop bridge — helps “HopesUp” go to unexpected places and stand out in its own right.
