The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Wednesday, June 17

Sometimes, we have to take a good, hard look at our clutter, and decide to take out the trash.
Exploring that notion is Skylar Gregg who, you may have noticed, joined us last week for a Facebook takeover in advance of her new single, “Landfill.” The single was released Friday, and is an introspective look at how even the best of us stubbornly hang onto and cover up our baggage — until it piles up so high that we are forced to address it.
“Landfill” is a well-crafted slice of Americana with a nice helping of retro-soul vibes. Gregg’s powerful country vocals stand out as brilliantly as ever on the track, and she received valuable assists from a collection of artists, including Heather Moulder (keys/organ), Joel Gage (guitar), Taylor Lonardo (bass), Taylor Powell (drums), David Williford (saxophone), and Leif Shires (trumpet).
“Landfill” was produced, engineered, and mixed by Jon Estes, who also arranged the horns on the track, and mastered by John Baldwin. Hear the finished product as today’s Daily Spinn!
