New York City rock trio Nick Sumner & the Assistance have unveiled their first release of the year with “Look Out Below.”

With a sound as big as the city itself, the booming voices of the preluding drums bring reassurance that the band has not lost any steam in the past year.

Throughout the band’s biography, they are unquestionably clear in their intention to be heartfelt in the creation and performance of their music. To that, I would say they have been extremely successful. They have a particular knack for creating a tangible environment from which to enjoy their stories. Even without the lyrics, the emotion and intention of “Look Out Below” are clear — an impressive trait for a band.
