PREMIERE: Halley Neal’s Feel-Good Throwback, ‘If I Was Ready’

If Halley Neal‘s voice sounds familiar, there’s a great chance you’ve heard her as the lead vocalist for Rose & Kennedy, whose single “Lover” has been streamed a combined five million times between Spotify and YouTube.
Now, the Nashville-based songwriter is “Ready” to step out on her own, delivering a modern update to familiar sounds with her new single!
“If I Was Ready” sees Neal step out of the electropop realm, drawing on the influence of giants like The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, and Fleetwood Mac. The upbeat tune was brought to Neal a few years back by her songwriting partner, Suzie Buist, and has found new life in 2020.
“We actually recorded the song for a friend’s project in a totally different style and arrangement, and then set it aside for a while before rediscovering it this year,” Neal explains. “This song feels like it’s the beginning of a new sound that I’ve been discovering, which feels more ‘me,’ and feels really connected to music that I grew up surrounded by.”
