A product of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, “New Normal” — the new single from St. Petersburg, Russia native Max Viner — frames the isolation we’ve all experienced to a degree in a new, hopeful light.

That isn’t to say that the spacious indie-pop tune or its official music video — which clocks in just under the 10-minute mark — returns us to bustling crowds and busy streets. However, “New Normal” showcases time spent alone as a chance to reflect and assess where we are going, so that we may manifest a better reality for ourselves and the world we know.

“‘New Normal’ is about the bright views of the present and future. It’s about personal struggle, passion for life, the expression of the moment, and paradise of the present,” Viner said in the video’s official description. “‘New Normal’ is a message that change is for the better. I have realized who I am, who I desire to be, and how I want to contribute to this world.”
