The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Wednesday, Sept. 30

Let’s close our month of Daily Spinns with an artist we’ve had our eye on for a little while here at UMC. Meet KiNG MALA.

The alternative soul artist (real name Areli Castro) resides in Los Angeles, and has kept moving forward despite the challenges facing all of us in 2020. Over the summer, she released “sugarblind,” which blends indie rock grit with polished pop production, for a sound that meets at the intersection of Ashe and Bishop Briggs. Lyrically, the single uses hunger as a metaphor for lust, brought forth by the singer’s sultry, confidently-delivered vocals.

We mentioned that KiNG MALA has been busy this year, and we invite you to check out everything she’s put out on Spotify. As for “sugarblind,” catch it below as today’s Daily Spinn!
