Daily Spinn: PuffHost Evaluates the State of Happiness in 2020
Man… those PuffHost guys are staying on top of it, in advance of their forthcoming album, sleeping through the end of the world, arriving later this month.
The alt-pop duo — whose music always keenly examines the Millennial human experience — released “Fake Happy” on Friday. The single features a silky smooth soundscape kissed with neo-soul vibes, which provides a pleasant backdrop for this honest take on the ways we’ll stuff down our true feelings, lest we rock the (sinking) ship.
“Sometimes, it’s easier to bottle up your emotions and put on a fake smile to pretend that you’re okay, when sometimes you’re really just completely unsatisfied, unmotivated, tired, depressed, anxious, angry, resentful, lonely, worthless, or any negative feeling, really,” the band said in a Facebook post about the single. “You don’t have to default to ambivalence. We all take rain checks on our emotion, but we should just feel instead. You’re not the burden you think you are.”
