Daily Spinn: Meet The Sewing Club!

The members of new-to-the-scene Nashville rock band The Sewing Club came together from different corners of the globe. Frontwoman Hannah McElroy grew up in China, while her bandmates hail from Chicago, Houston, and Charlotte. Their paths began to intertwine in 2017, when McElroy and guitarist Stephen Meaux became friends on Nashville’s house show scene and began writing together.
Fast forward to 2021, and the band has just released its first single — and it’s one we’ve probably all found relatable, at some point in our lives!
“My Dad Wants You Dead” is a fun alternative rock song, complete with driving guitars and delightful harmonies. The tune, as you may have guessed, is about the difficulty to be found when attempting to make a significant other “part of the family” — which only becomes amplified when we realize that it simply isn’t worth the fight.
“‘My Dad Wants You Dead’ was written about parents not liking your significant other, and you starting to agree with them,” McElroy said. “Relationships can be hard and confusing, but even more so when your loved ones don’t approve!”
“My Dad Wants You Dead” was produced by *repeat repeat’s Jared Corder, and premiered on Nashville’s independent radio station, Lightning 100. Now, it’s here for you as today’s Daily Spinn!
