Songs You Should Hear: Dreams, Fantasies, and Vendettas

Hip hop and pop rule the day in this week’s edition of Songs You Should Hear. From the ambient and dreamy, to the unabashedly direct, we’ve got the goods that will keep your brain and body moving.

By the way, we do this every Friday, and are always down to receive new submissions. So, if there’s something you think we should hear, let us know!

Artist: Eli Montanna
Song: Rich
Genre: Hip Hop
Why you should hear it: With a lush and dreamy soundscape befitting an ambitious artist with his head in the clouds, “Rich” features the Beaumont, TX native flowing masterfully, as he speaks on the life he envisions providing his friends and family once his path leads to material wealth. “Rich” is the lead single from Eli Montanna’s album, High as Heaven, released earlier this year.

Artist: Juliana Hale
Song: Vendetta
Genre: Pop/Rock
Why you should hear it: Written on top of a pop punk/alt-rock foundation, “Vendetta” is a soaring heartbreak anthem with a major-league hook that is sure to stick in your mind. Perhaps most notably, Hale’s vocal talent shines on the track; the genre-bending songstress showcases exquisite control of her vocal instrument, while passionately delivering each line with palpable angst.

Artist: Kfhox
Song: Work It Girl (Whatchu Want)
Genre: Hip Hop
Why you should hear it: The versatile Nashville-based songwriter comes at us with bucketloads of swagger on her latest single, pulling no punches about fulfilling a lover’s every desire over a fresh hip hop instrumental produced by Darin “D-Roc” James.

What do you think we should hear? You’re always welcome to let us know! And, if you’re an artist (or represent an artist), you can fill out one of these forms to put your music on our radar!
