LISTEN: The Mad Sugars Pay Tribute to ‘New York Girls’

Going out for a night on the town in the Big Apple? You’d better bring your A-Game.

That was a lesson learned through the autobiographical nightlife misadventures featured in The Mad Sugars’ music, with the band’s latest song, “New York Girls,” being no exception. The fast-paced single — described by Mad Sugars songsmith Adam Lawrence as “rip-roaring garage punk” — lands at a frenetic pace befitting New York City itself; the raucous new single hits us as unapologetically as a $14 cocktail to the face, and it leaves a lasting impression.

“The song is best summed up by a line in the second verse: ‘Call it an off night, but I’m just having a ball,’ Lawrence said. “Girls in New York City are some of the toughest around, and the speaker expresses his thanks for pushing him to be his best.”

“New York Girls” is the latest taste of The Mad Sugars’ forthcoming concept album, set to hit streaming platforms in 2023. Check it out below!
