Anyway, onto this week’s Songs You Should Hear…

Artist: Chris Walton
Song: Halfway Lover
Genre: Soul/R&B
Why You Should Hear It: From the new album Ruminating Thoughts comes this smooth and mellow tune, whose sonic properties call the “yacht rock” movement to mind in glorious fashion. “Halfway Lover” simmers with contemplation, as our protagonist weighs whether to stay or go in a relationship where the potential seems to outshine reality.

Artist: J.Antonette
Song: Fix It
Genre: Country Pop
Why You Should Hear It: This spacious, cinematic country ballad grapples with a harrowing choice: stay in an unfulfilling relationship, or face being alone.

“Personally, I’ve always struggled to let go of people I love,” J.Antonette said. “I’m not a quitter, so I — for better or worse — try and try. Sometimes, I just wish for it to work out so badly, even though I know it’s not right. The concept and action of letting go is just too much to face at times.”

Artist: Stephen Sanchez
Song: Evangeline
Genre: Retro Pop
Why You Should Hear It: This nostalgic nod to the dreamy love ballads of the 1950s is brought to life by the Nashville-based troubadour’s showstopping vocals, which paint a vivid picture of a lovesick man in limbo.
