Anyway, onto this week’s Songs You Should Hear…

Artist: Anna Rose
Song: Whatever Gets You Through the Night
Genre: Indie Pop
Why You Should Hear It: Poking through the lush ambiance of this soundscape is a certain kind of sadness; the kind associated with a love never meant to last.

“This song is about falling in love at first sight with someone you know you can never end up with,” shares Rose. “It’s Romeo & Juliet. It’s exquisite torture. It’s knowing that you can’t handle your heart being shattered again, but being unable to stop the train that’s already moving. Questioning your ability to love at all, after so much heartbreak. Hanging on every word they say and agonizing in the wait between.”

Artist: Biddy & The Bullets
Song: Storm in a Shot Glass
Genre: Country/Rock
Why You Should Hear It: If that song title rings a familiar bell, that’s because this is a cover of country legend Reba McEntire’s 2019 single of the same name. This version features a hard rocking edge brought about by scorching guitars, giving it potent cross-genre appeal.

Artist: EDGAR LOOP
Song: Rocket to the Moon
Genre: Prog/Psych Rock
Why You Should Hear It: This one takes us on a voyage befitting its title! The Dublin-born duo — comprised of Dublin-born brothers Rori and Ronan Coleman — provides us with a grandiose, yet poignant offering which serves as “a meditation on life’s absurdity and, despite the pain of losing loved ones, it can be a comfort to remember we are all just walking each other home.”
