Picks of the Platzes: Entering the Home Stretch

The second weekend of Musikfest is officially underway and, for as hard as it is to believe, we’re coming up on the tail end of the festival’s 40th anniversary.

As we’ve done the whole way, Phillip from Your Next Favorite Band and I are here to give you our can’t-miss selections for this beautiful Friday night.

Gerard’s Pick (The Sheriff’s Selection): Billy Bauer Band

Red Stag Pub Liederplatz (North Side), 9-11 p.m.

If you’re a fan of acoustic rock, jam bands, and any combination thereof, you’re bound to love these Bethlehem natives (and longtime friends of UMC). This is the first of two performances for the band at this year’s festival, but the only fully original set: Sunday night’s set to close out Stadtplatz will be the band’s popular Dave Matthews Band tribute show.

Phillip’s Pick: Wheatus

Americaplatz (South Side): 9:30-11 p.m.

You most likely know these guys and gals for their 2000 megahit, “Teenage Dirtbag.” Tonight, you have the opportunity to see them for FREE! It’s one of those things that makes Musikfest special!
