Songs You Should Hear… from Sunday’s NashLive! Lineup

We have a solid NashLive! show to look forward to this Sunday at The East Room, and we thought we’d use this week’s Songs You Should Hear to celebrate it.

Supersonic folk troubadour (and longtime friend of UMC) Ali Aslam is coming down from Brooklyn to join Nashville locals Mary Jennings and Pepperwood, and we’re pretty psyched about it. So psyched, that we’ve given you a preview of what’s to come this weekend. Enjoy!

Crowdfunding Spotlight: Support Catalina’s Next Genre-Bending Adventure!

Catalina’s mesmerizing vocal prowess is showcased through her soulful writing and expansive soundscapes. As a Chilean artist, Catalina has the ability to capture the audience through her Latin-influenced soulful pop sound and live shows. When she takes the stage, Catalina bares her soul to all who are willing to accept it; her playful eye contact, evocative emotions, and ferocious dance moves will draw you in. She achieved great success with her 2019 record, Multifacética, by providing another taste of her eclectic sound, as she shared the dualities of life through music and lyrics, in English and Spanish.

Fast forward to 2022 — one pandemic and a baby later — and Catalina is gearing up to release the collection of songs she wrote in 2020 for more genre-bending music. Learn more about the project below, and click the button to help bring it to life!

Oh, and we’ve included a couple tracks in honor of our friends at On the Guest List…, who just welcomed The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney onto their podcast. Check it out here!

The First-Ever UMC Weekly PodGuide!

In case you didn’t know, we have an official podcast. Not only do we have an official podcast, but a lot of our friends have podcasts, too, full of insightful conversations and witty banter around music, creativity, and life itself.

So, we got to thinking: what if we provided a weekly guide highlighting these podcasts, to give the people something to look forward to? Just like that, the UMC Weekly PodGuide was born!

To start, here are a few episodes worth your drive time — all of which are set to drop this week!

Finding the Right Performance Opportunities

For artists, there is much to consider when trying to score better live performance opportunities. Where can artists find paying gigs? Are the gigs in question the right fit for the artist? How can performers build relationships that will help them secure more opportunities and further their careers? Are there platforms out there that are designed to help performing artists as they search for these opportunities?

The latest article in our “10 People Musicians Need on Their Side” series tackles these questions. I reached out to Channing Moreland, who is the co-founder of EVAEVA is an online marketplace that connects entertainers with paid live event opportunities. While it’s important to note that EVA itself is not a booking agency, EVA works directly with booking agents and independent artists alike to connect musicians and entertainers – of all disciplines and career levels – to paid performance opportunities at corporate events. These opportunities can be vital toward helping entertainers build lasting relationships and grow their platforms.
