UMC20: Winter Moods and More (Dec. 6, 2022)

Sounds of the season. Sounds from all over the world. They’re all here!

It’s December, which means it’s time to include a handful of holiday tunes, in addition to songs that fit the vibe any time of year. Speaking of the holidays, we’ve also got a few artists performing on this week’s Bundle Up Nash annual clothing drive here in Nashville, if you’re craving some local flavors.

UMC20: The Best of November 2022

How is it already the end of November?

That means 2022 is almost over. That means the holiday season is officially in full swing. That also means that it’s time for another monthly UMC20 Best Of compilation.

Lots of tough choices were made, but overall, we think we’ve put together a nice representation of how stellar November 2022 has been. You be the judge!

UMC20: Thankful for This HEAT (Nov. 22, 2022)

We’ve got a smorgasbord of rock, pop, and Americana for you this week!

Also, a big shoutout to our friends at °1824 (via Universal Music Group), who are always down to share their emerging artists with us. A few appear here, as you weave your way through the playlist. A couple of them (namely, DREAMERS) will be in town tonight — and we’ll be there, camera in tow!

Let us all give thanks for these jams. Then, let’s dig in!

LISTEN: Little Hurt Balances Light and Dark on “Depression Pop” Single, “Buttercup”

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Colin Dieden had all but forgotten his childhood nickname “Little Hurt” until one night, when he felt a strong pull to fulfill the name once again. Not on the baseball field, like he did growing up in Kansas City, but in the studio and on stage as the moniker for his solo project, Little Hurt

“It’s part of my past, so it felt right for the future. I’m just a kid from Kansas who’s a little hurt,” Dieden says.

UMC20: Hard-Hitting Anthems and Chill Vibes (Nov. 8, 2022)

It’s a high-powered, rock-heavy start to this week’s UMC20 playlist. That’s where it starts, but it’s not where it ends up.

You’ll notice different moods and genres gradually peppering their way in as you progress through this week’s 20-track volume. And, for all of the frenetic energy that starts things off, by the end of the ride, you’ll be vibing on a completely different wavelength.

UMC20: Starting November Strong (Nov. 1, 2022)

They say that the end of the year is when things are supposed to “slow down.” If the submissions we’ve received over the past couple weeks are any indication, that assumption would seem to be false.

There’s so much auditory enjoyment coming our way on a daily basis, and it always makes for an exciting and dynamic weekly compilation. It’s also amazing to see how music connects us from our different corners of the world — from LA to New York, from Nashville to Cheyenne, these tunes aren’t all tied to one locale.

LISTEN: Purple Haired Rock Goddess Anastasia Elliot Inspires Listeners to Turn Traumas into Works of Art in Her First EDM Song, “The Shattering”

Known as the “purple haired rock goddess,” audio-visual artist Anastasia Elliot is enigmatic to say the least. Her colorfully curated style, disciplined classical training, and her ability to create an entire immersive universe of cinematic wonder, all alchemize in such a way that sets her apart from fellow artists in the indie art rock world.

UMC20: The Best of October 2022

UMC20: Autumnal Moods (Oct. 18, 2022)

It’s freezing in Nashville today.

OK, it isn’t freezing. But highs are only in the 50s, so it might as well be.

What that also means is that it’s time to trade summer’s bright energy for cozier moods befitting the season. That’s not to say that there aren’t some bangers on this week’s edition of UMC20, but it is to point out that the back half of this week’s playlist has a healthy dose of pensive Americana tunes befitting the vibrant pastels of a mid-October sunset.
