It turned out to be a beautiful night for First Friday in South Bethlehem — and the music was on point, as well!

We’re putting the finishing touches on this Friday’s All-American Celebration for #LVUFirstFriday, jointly and proudly produced alongside a number of partners including SouthSide Arts District, C.F. Martin & Co., Banko Beverage Co., 610 Underground, and Molly’s Irish Grille & Sports Pub.
Even when we make the “full” #LVUFirstFriday lineup announcement, you should know that there always might be another ace or two up our sleeves…
I got down to Musikfest a hair later than each of the first two nights, rolling up (on foot) to Red Stag Pub Liederplatz as my entry point for the day around 6 p.m. That was where Atlanta, GA’s Caleb and the Gents had already hit full stride with their hybrid of jazz, blues and country. This quintessentially southern band kept things uptempo for the brief time I was able to check them out, with a sound that got members of the audience up on their feet.
The band will headline Chef Jeff’s Space Rock Jamboree at Northampton’s Gin Mill & Grille this Saturday night. The show is a cancer benefit for Geoffry Thomas, affectionately known as “Chef Jeff,” and will also feature performances from The Beings, Ian Gallagher, The Frequency Collage, The Keystone Drifters, Chewbacca’s Sac, and Hairy Dudini.
Chef Jeff has been catering for bands since 1968 – nearly 50 years – using the motto “You feed my mind, I’ll feed your stomach.” The longtime local music supporter has fed bands across all genres, catered at Woodstock, and now is known for his work during shows at The Gin Mill & Grille.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday night, with music beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $5, with an additional suggested donation of $5 for the Chef Jeff Cancer Fund.
