Holistic Hangs: A Chance to Build Community

Let me take you back to the Summer of 2017. Nashville still was not but a twinkle in our eye. The Underground Music Collective you know and love today was known as Lehigh Valley Underground, based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

My hair was shoulder length, and I resembled the GEICO caveman. If you know, you know. If you don’t, consider yourself fortunate. 😉

Introducing our Underground Rising Initiative

At Underground Music Collective, we strive to develop an ecosystem that empowers independent creatives to pursue their passions.

We live by the phrase, “the rising tide raises all boats.” Our efforts will only go as far as they impact the community around us; therefore, we are focused on building a robust, collaborative, community-driven platform through our content, events, and outreach.

To realize our noble mission to its fullest potential, we need your support.

We are delighted to present our Underground Rising initiative. Beginning on Tuesday, November 29 (that’s Giving Tuesday!) and continuing through the end of 2022, we will share stories from within our community, highlighting the impact Underground Music Collective has had on the careers and lives of those who #GoUnderground.

We share these stories, so that you may feel encouraged to support our cause with a monetary donation, made tax-deductible via our fiscal sponsorship from The Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. Every dollar raised throughout our Underground Rising initiative will be invested into avenues that make our platform stronger, to ensure that the songs and stories from within our community have a greater opportunity to impact the masses.

Our fundraising goal? It’s $5,000 by January 1, 2023. If 200 people just like you donate $25 each, we’ll meet our goal.

By supporting Underground Music Collective, you find yourself in good company. Over the past year, esteemed national and global brands like Red Bull, Tennessee Titans, Redfin Real Estate, Universal Music Group (via °1824), and Creative Artists Agency (CAA) have recognized the value of UMC by leveraging our platform to build brand awareness, spotlight their events, and spread their messages.

Your support empowers us to develop our collaborative, community-driven ecosystem, and to provide meaningful opportunities to independent creatives – in Nashville, and anywhere else.

I hope that you will consider including Underground Music Collective in your charitable giving this holiday season. To make your contribution, please visit abcnashville.org/donations/umc.

Thank you for your support, and please have a safe and happy holiday season!

Yours in music,

Gerard T. Longo

NashLive! Presents: CH3LS, Allan Fine & The Finites, and Good News for Modern Man at The 5 Spot

We’ll return once again to The 5 Spot (1006 Forrest Ave., Nashville) for another night rooted in the grand tradition of rock and roll. This time, we’re bringing CH3LSAllan Fine & The Finites, and The Z-Man Experience into the fold!

True Blue Rocker Chelsee Foster (CH3LS) has been a veteran of the music industry for over a decade. In Los Angeles, she sold out legendary venues such as The Viper Room, The Whisky a Go-Go, and the Troubadour. Chelsee also worked in performance licensing for years, utilizing her music business degree. In 2019, she toured the Caribbean with Norwegian Cruise Lines’ highest-rated rock show: Syd Norman’s Pourhouse. Chelsee credits her experience as a competitive figure skater with giving her the strength and endurance necessary to put out a powerhouse performance every night. As fiery as her red hair, Chelsee’s rock vibe stands out in Nashville’s music scene!

Drawing influence from Lou Reed, Pavement, Talking Heads, and The National, The Finites started as a studio recording outlet of Nashville producer Allan Fine. Live, the synths are stripped away and replaced with electric guitars for an all-out, rock ‘n roll sound. Current members are Hyde Ennis (Lead Guitar), Chris Augustinos (Bass), and Griffin Schwab (Drums).

Good News For Modern Man was started by 22-year-old songwriter/guitarist and Virginia native Jackson Shockley. The group consists of drummer Michael Schumacher and an ever-revolving cast of musicians. Moving to Nashville in early 2020, Shockley spent the pandemic writing and recording for the project. Drawing from the classic, jangle-pop sounds of the 60’s like The Beatles and The Byrds, as well as indie 80’s acts like Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, and R.E.M., Good News For Modern Man effortlessly blends elements of sunshine pop and distorted rock with lyrics that reflect the mood and feeling of the times. Their newly released debut single, “Everything Is Fine” is now streaming everywhere.

Tickets to this show are $10 at the door. You must be 21+ to enter.
