UMC20: The Best of November 2022

How is it already the end of November?

That means 2022 is almost over. That means the holiday season is officially in full swing. That also means that it’s time for another monthly UMC20 Best Of compilation.

Lots of tough choices were made, but overall, we think we’ve put together a nice representation of how stellar November 2022 has been. You be the judge!

“I can’t imagine you’d stay seated at this table if it was turned.”

No toxic relationship dynamic is worth sacrificing your own sense of self-worth. Regardless of our connection, sometimes the only choice we have is to walk away.

UMC20: The Musical Harvest Continues (Oct. 11, 2022)

With every week that goes by, the independent musicians of Earth continue bringing the HEAT.

It means we’ll never run out of choice cuts to feature on UMC20 (and elsewhere within this wild and wacky UMC ecosystem). And, while that lends us to make tough calls as to what to include, and where to slot each submission onto the playlist, rest assured that we’d rather have too much than too little.

If you’re a musician reading this, the best way to get on our radar is to submit your tunes here. And, while you head over to the forms and tell us everything we need to know about your music, enjoy this week’s edition of UMC20 for inspiration!

Re-Branding, Recharging, and a Case of the ‘Mondays’ with Ria Barkr

Ria Barkr has been hard at work throughout 2022 releasing soulful R&B cuts — and doing it her way. The Virginia native went inward during the COVID-19 pandemic, and emerged refreshed and ready to present her artistry in an entirely new light.

Learn about Ria’s journey in this conversation, and stick around to learn about her latest single, “monday,” and the value of recharging in a “hustle culture” that isn’t always what it seems on social media.

UMC20: Back from the Beach (Sept. 6, 2022)

Summer is unofficially over, and that means it’s time to get down to brass tacks by delivering you some fresh, recently-submitted HEAT.

OK, so maybe one of these songs wasn’t submitted, and is included here simply because I’m vibing on it, post-sabbatical. Which one? Well, here’s a hint: it’s from Dirty Heads’ new album, Midnight Control, which released on August 26 and, personally speaking, is already one of my favorite albums of all time. Sometimes, a new record just hits the spot.

After that, though? You’ll enjoy a multitude of multi-genre flavors straight from our submission form. Hope you’re ready!
