On the Road with Alex Mery & The Townsmen: Day #13 – Mama I’m Coming Home
This has been the experience of a lifetime.
It’s difficult to summarize the abundance of emotions that we all experienced today during the final performance of our Southern Exposure Tour. I’m sitting at home right now looking at all of the pictures we took and reminiscing on the memories we made together, while listening to Townes Van Zandt on vinyl (tour purchase inspired by our AirBnB stay in Charlotte – complete with board games) and it’s honestly surreal knowing this adventure has come to a close. Will we be performing together again? Yes, of course! We will absolutely be dragging Zach along to more gigs in the upcoming months, so the fun will definitely continue, but the capacity has changed. Tour was a new, exciting, and stressful experience for all of us (yes, as Zach would say “it’s not all butterflies and rainbows”), but I think we could agree it was absolutely worth it.
Today, we finished the tour with a bang-up show at Tolino Vineyards, surrounded by friends and family. Zach and I premiered a live performance of our single “Meadowlands,” and both Zach and Alex G. sat in on a few of our tunes. Although it was a hot day, there was a great turnout for the show. Gerard Longo popped by for some official LVU photos as our media sponsor, so keep your eyes peeled for content published by him tomorrow.
Speaking of our sponsors: a HUGE thank you and shoutout to all of our local business sponsors who contributed to the funding of the Southern Exposure Tour: Tolino Vineyards, Lost Tavern Brewing, RDM Enterprises, Blend, and American Spirits Roadhouse. Without them and LVU, this tour would not have been possible. I would also like to thank my comrades for making this trip remarkable, unique, and — most of all — fun. Alex M., Matt, Zach, and Alex G. – without the farting, snoring, Krave sticks, “OooOOoo”s, repeated questions because you didn’t listen OR read the itinerary, bromance antics, ridiculous inside jokes, breaking my equipment, and sweaty rides in the truck together after the gig, this venture would not have been nearly as memorable. Thank you for being a part of this with me!
