PHOTOS: Free Summer Chill Concert at Spin Me Round
Last night, our region was well represented by four of the area’s top indie rock acts as Spin Me Round (inside the Phillipsburg Mall) hosted its Free Summer Chill Concert.
The evening was headlined by Philly indie rockers Sonnder, who just premiered a video for their song, “Not Far Enough,” on LVU this past Friday. Cole Selleck from Philadelphia’s Radio 104.5 emceed the evening, which also featured music from Houston & The Dirty Rats, Heat Thunder, and Summer Scouts.
Houston & The Dirty Rats were up first, playing once again in their hometown and bringing the raw punk energy that we’ve come to know and love.
Next, Heat Thunder joined the party by way of Doylestown, adding an indie rock ambiance to Spin Me Round while incorporating elements of folk and country into their sound.
After that, we were graced by the presence of the Valley’s own Summer Scouts, whose energetic power pop shimmered throughout the store. True to form (and one of their song titles), the band “gave it their all” in a quick, inspired set.
Then, it was time for the main event. Sonnder’s set was raw and powerful, yet polished in its curation. Each song flowed well into the next, and the band took the lead of frontman Ryan Weidman to deliver its rich, experimental soundscapes.
