PHOTOS: Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series, September 2017
Labor Day Weekend got off to an incredible start.
Indeed, September 1, 2017 was the day that music returned to First Fridays in South Bethlehem. Thanks to a partnership between Lehigh Valley Underground and SouthSide Arts District, 13 performers graced nine venues as part of the first official Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series lineup.
Our mission, from the beginning of the night, was clear — get to all 13 performances and document the myriad sights and sounds put forth in each venue. We succeeded, beginning with Cubbage at Bonn Place Brewing Co. right at 5 p.m., and continuing all the way to the official LVU First Friday Afterparty with The Groove Merchants at SouthSide 313.
The buzz remained palpable — and 3rd St. in particular remained busy — throughout the night. We’re ecstatic to say that the rejuvenation of South Bethlehem’s First Friday concept added some additional bustle to a community that continues to find new ways to grow.
Of course, that wouldn’t be possible without some very important people. First and foremost, thank you to our performers: The Beautiful Distortion, Brian Kibler, Bryan Tuk Complex, Cubbage, The Groove Merchants, Jordyn Kenzie, Kara Hartzell, Kayla Avitabile, Neil Grover, Not For Coltrane, Ralph Pagano, Roi and the Secret People, and Zach Russack. Your talents never cease to amaze us, and we are humbled and honored that you lent them to this vision. You continue to be the reason for what we do here at Lehigh Valley Underground, and your abilities continue to excite and inspire us, every time out.
Also, thank you to the nine spectacular venues who took in these performers: Bonn Place Brewing Co., Color Me Mine Lehigh Valley, Comfort Suites Hill to Hill Grille, Godfrey Daniels, Lit Roastery & Bakeshop, Molinari’s, Molly’s, SouthSide 313, and Zoellner Arts Center. You had an important role in breathing life into this project, and we look forward to working with you all again very soon.
Last (but certainly not least), thank you to Missy Hartney and SouthSide Arts District for believing in LVU. We’ve accomplished something truly great together. It came to fruition on Friday night, and it only gets better from here!
Speaking of which, we have an official announcement on the Godfrey Daniels portion of October’s First Friday coming later this weekend. Before we look ahead, though, let’s look back on an unforgettable night!
