The January 2018 Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series Lineup
Earlier this month, we indicated that we’d be taking a brief winter’s nap in January, with regard to the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series.
Well, even with our biggest event to date just two weeks after the fact, we just couldn’t bear the thought of being without plans on Friday, January 5. So, the #LVUFirstFriday party will rage on in the first week of the New Year!
You will notice that we are smaller in numbers this time around – four performers in four venues. Still, all four of these pairings are sure to pack a punch. The night is headlined at Godfrey Daniels by Jim Weider and ProJECT PERCoLAToR. Weider, a former member of The Band, will be joined by Jesse Gress (Todd Rundgren Band) on guitar; Rodney Holmes on drums; and Adam Minkoff on bass to create a sound rooted in powerful groove and atmospheric guitars. This month’s Godfrey’s feature is a ticketed show, with tickets available for $29.50 in advance at this link.
Free options exist around town, as well, starting at 6 p.m. with a solo performance from Dear Anna frontman Lorenzo Bubba at The Banana Factory. Lorenzo will be playing a 90-minute set, which will serve as a preview of what’s to come when his band headlines the Lehigh Valley Underground 2nd Birthday Spectacular at SteelStacks two weeks later on Friday, January 19.
Of course, the amazing Brian Kibler will continue his First Friday residency into the New Year at Molly’s Irish Grille & Sports Pub (at the corner of 4th and New St.), playing another patented set of rocking acoustic tunes from 6-9 p.m.
Meanwhile, at the SouthSide Arts District’s brand new offices (327 S. New St.), #LVUFirstFriday original Not For Coltrane, who opened up our first ever Godfrey Daniels showcase on First Friday in September, will be on-hand to welcome guests to South Bethlehem between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Finally, Friday, January 5 is the day that Domaci will open its new home on 3rd St., and we’re celebrating in style with songs and stories from Dina Hall and Beth Sherby, the prolific pair now known as Ophelia, beginning at 7 p.m.
Was that a lot to read? It’s OK – we’ve made it all easily digestible for you below, with venues in alphabetical order!
