PHOTOS: SouthSide Arts & Music Festival Free Stage Lineup, Night 2

After a spirited Friday night that saw standout performances across SouthSide Arts & Music Festival’s free and ticketed stages, Saturday came around, proving to be a strong follow-up to bring the weekend full-circle.

In the spirit of the day, Saturday’s musical programming started earlier at 5 p.m. with Jordyn Kenzie at Color Me Mine, who drew an impressive crowd to hear her even more impressive vocal talents. The young performer’s growth as a singer-songwriter was evident, and kept the audience rapt with attention.

From there, Saturday’s adventure traveled to Molly’s Irish Grille & Sports Pub, where folk artist Cass Noelle was playing for the first time. A newcomer to the Valley’s scene, Cass enjoyed another sizable audience, who in turn enjoyed the singer-songwriter’s multi-instrumental talents and stunningly soulful voice.

The Americana theme then continued with the 2018 Lehigh Valley Music Award winners for Outstanding Americana Band, Acoustic Kitty Project. Frontman Carter Lansing and co. kicked the evening into high gear with their patented brand of outlaw country, making for a Saturday Night as enjoyable as their album bearing the same name.

From there, it was time to mosey on over to Domaci, which played host to standout pop duo January Noon, who drew patrons in from the opening acoustic grooves of their single, “If I Can,” and throughout the set.

Then… things got emotional up at Sotto Santi.

theLionhearted, an alternative/emo project fronted by singer/pianist Richie Ares, took the 4th St. pizzeria and pub by storm with a 2-for-1 set that offered a tender acoustic beginning, followed by a powerful full band experience that increased in energy as the night went on. Ares’ soulful, haunting vocals captivated the audience, turning a typical college hangout into a listening room for one night.

With that, our 2018 SouthSide Arts & Music Festival free stages came to a close. We want to thank everyone who came out over the course of the weekend, our lineup of talented performs, and our partners at ArtsQuest for bringing us into the fold. We hope to do it again next year!
