As Brian Dunne prepares to release his forthcoming full-length album in 2020, the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter has given us a first glimpse into the future.
Dunne released the video for his new single, “Harlem River Drive,” last month. The video combines compelling shots from various highways, streets, and country roads around the New York City area — from the heart of Manhattan to the quiet suburbs — with simplistic, slice-of-life moments which serve to capture Dunne at his most candid. All the while, Dunne’s narrative reminds us simultaneously of life’s wonder and fragility, noting that “in life and sacrifice, you’re just a short ride from paradise, (or) just a slip from your hardest days.”
“’Harlem River Drive’ is a song that took me 29 years to write, and a video that took me one day to make,” Dunne said. “It is an encapsulation of the way I see the world. I think if there’s one song I would want people to hear to understand who I am, it would be this one.”
The track and forthcoming LP were produced by Andrew Sarlo, whose previous credits include the likes of Big Thief, Bon Iver, and Nick Hakim. Take a listen and have a look below!
