The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Thursday, Sept. 24

Just gotta throw this out there: as soon as I heard this new single from Arkansas native Jaymes Brass, I knew we had a worthy Daily Spinn on our hands.

The single in question? It’s called “Soul is a Mirror,” and it features a swirl of sounds masterfully layered by Brass himself. Powered by a thumping groove and reggae-inspired guitars, Brass got inventive with the sounds found within his Roland JDXI synth keyboard. The end result is an atmospheric blend of soul, R&B, and reggae, glossed with a lo-fi grit.

“I really wanted to write a tune that wouldn’t be out of place on a reggae dub radio station, or something of that sort,” Brass noted.

Lyrically, “Soul is a Mirror” was written as a song about trust, truth, and love, with three movements that, according to Brass, are meant to convey sadness, mystery, and reassurance. Take a listen for yourself and enjoy today’s Daily Spinn!
