TAHNE Wants You to Know You’re ‘Not Alone’

On Friday, TAHNE dropped “Not Alone,” a moving new single that she calls “a gift for the unheard.”
The Nashville-based pop artist co-wrote “Not Alone” alongside Grammy-winning producer Shannon Sanders (John Legend, India Arie, Johnny Lang, Jesse McCartney). The dynamic new tune is an autobiographical tale, born out of a conversation between Sanders and TAHNE about the singer’s own experiences.
“From the moment we begin writing ‘Not Alone,’ I knew I was entering a space I hadn’t been musically, sharing parts of my story that are hurtful and caused me a great deal of pain,” TAHNE said. “We considered several ways sonically to tell this story, but it resonated better stripped down with vocal and piano. I wanted to people to hear the words, because they are powerful and connective.”
Through the single’s vulnerability — and particularly, TAHNE’s exceptionally powerful vocal performance — is a sense of strength and resolve. This is something that TAHNE hopes to instill in listeners who are experiencing their own bouts of loneliness and depression.
“I want everyone to know that they are not alone because we all have felt disconnected, abandoned, forgotten about at some point in our lives,” she said. “This song is for all of us.”
Certainly, “Not Alone” presented TAHNE with an opportunity to help others find healing. In the process, she found a similar opportunity to heal herself.
“‘Not Alone’ is one of the most vulnerable song I’ve written and released. It reaches the heart, because it is from my heart,” TAHNE said. “It cuts deep in a good way; it provided me with healing that I didn’t even know I still needed.”
