PHOTOS: The Dark Masquerade at Mercy Lounge

Friday night’s Dark Masquerade was a night unlike any other we’ve had.

Of course, we had incredible performances from top to bottom, featuring the likes of Austin Blue, Talia Stewart, GAYLE, and Notelle. We had a costume contest judged by Nashville-based drag performers Vidalia Anne Gentry (VAG for short) and Lexi Von Simmons. We had incredible prizes from a number of Nashville-based businesses. And, the best part of all, we celebrated with 200+ of our closest friends.

Above all else, Friday night was about community. It was about inclusion. It was about people from all walks of life coming together in celebration of art, music, and experiences that we all would have given anything to have this time last year. We’ve all come a long way since the plague-ravaged days of 2020, when venues in Nashville and beyond were shuttered indefinitely. Friday night, perhaps, was the clearest sign yet that we’re back.

The feeling in the air from start to finish on Friday night was simply electrifying. Let it be a sign of much more to come.
