LISTEN: Ria Barkr Returns with a New Name and Single

Nashville-based R&B songstress Ria Barkr took the pandemic-induced global shutdown of 2020 to look inward. In the process, she found rebirth under a new name and with a slick new sound.

With that, we bring you “work for it,” an ultra-vibey, synth-heavy new single produced by U.K.-based producer Jared Harding, with additional engineering from our good friend, Cj-0. The single is the first in a string of new releases that Ria hopes will “challenge society’s view of women,” as it gives Ria’s account of “pulling the strings of a chaser in love.”

This game of cat and mouse delivers an important message to women: you are in control of the outcome of any romantic relationship.

“’work for it’ is about realizing that you have as much control in any relationship as your partner and not settling for anything less than your worth,” shares Ria. “It’s the perfect intro to this next musical chapter in my life, and ‘work for it’ is just the beginning!”

‘work for it’ has already received acclaim since its March 11 release. The single received top 4 placement on Tidal’s Rising R&B playlist, and was premiered on Wonderland. Now, it’s here on UMC for you!
