The Quinn Spinn

QS-logo-v2The Quinn Spinn has made listeners laugh, made them think, and rocked the world in its multiple incarnations over the years. Starting Monday, June 5, 2017 at 7 p.m., The Quinn Spinn will air live every week on WLVU: The Sound of The Underground!

The first seeds of The Quinn Spinn were planted in January 2007, when two brothers began the Dominic & The Quinn Radio Show on WRMC Radio at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. The show combined slapstick talk radio banter and music, and the brothers’ on-air chemistry was immediately apparent. The show enjoyed much success over its four-semester run, including several station listener records, a feature article In the The Morning Call (Allentown, PA), and an Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Progress Award for WRMC at the conclusion of D&Q’s inaugural season.

When it came time for Dominic to graduate, The Quinn (Gerard Longo) felt as though he still had plenty to say. At a friend’s suggestion, he renamed the show The Quinn Spinn (a Spinn-off of D&Q). The Quinn Spinn followed a similar formula, but with rotating co-hosts and an additional emphasis on campus affairs, right up until its final episode in May 2010.

Aside from a couple of short-lived attempts at a revival, The Quinn Spinn had remained a relic of the past until an August night in 2013. Frustrated and in need of an outlet, Gerard listened back to old episodes of The Quinn Spinn and its predecessor on a beautiful summer night. It didn’t take long until the show’s host became hooked once again. It was settled – The Quinn Spinn would make its return, this time with extra focus on independent music — and the artists who create it.

On September 8, 2013, The Quinn Spinn began its maiden voyage as a podcast. What started as a hobby would soon turn into a full-fledged internet radio juggernaut. From its start date through May 2015, Quinn Spinn programming played hundreds of independent artists from all over the world, and featured interviews with musicians from five continents (North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia) while being made available worldwide on, iTunes, SoundCloud and Podbean. The Quinn Spinn crew also put boots on the ground, connecting with and supporting artists by attending many indie music shows in the New York and Philadelphia markets.

Currently, The Quinn Spinn can be found on SoundCloudiTunes, and right here on Lehigh Valley Underground every Monday evening. Beginning on June 5, the latest chapter in our saga begins, when The Quinn Spinn makes its live premiere on WLVU: The Sound of The Underground.

It is The Quinn Spinn’s mission to feature the best in independent music from around the world and right here at home. Throughout its history, The Quinn Spinn has been committed to #BuildingBetter. It seems as though the best is yet to come!
