UMC20: Upcoming Shows, Interview Guests, and More (Aug. 2, 2022)

We have so much to get to with this week’s edition of UMC20, and that includes providing clues about what’s coming down the pike in the near future.

We have upcoming (and previous) Quinn Spinn guests featured here, as well as artists set for forthcoming NashLive! shows this fall. We have submissions from multiple different continents and, of course, we touch as many genres as possible across these 20 tracks.

Sound exciting to you? Good, because it does to us. Let’s go!

Songs You Should Hear: Genre-Bending Adventures

This Friday, we will continue to diversify your sonic palettes with multi-colored soundscapes full of imagination.

We’re excited to present this week’s Songs You Should Hear, because all three of this week’s selections stretch genres past perceived boundaries. Craftily-woven, diverse influences are the name of the game this week — and it’s a game we’re delighted to play!

Songs You Should Hear: Songs for the Dumped

Who hurt all of you?

I ask out of genuine concern, because I did not have to look far into the submission form to find three songs about breakups and their aftermath for this week’s Songs You Should Hear. While each one is sonically different, they share a common thread: love has a dark side, and some of us handle its charismatic embrace better than others.

UMC20: Another Wednesday Edition (July 13, 2022)

When we get busy, we stay busy. When we get a little too busy, we need a little more time to properly listen to the 20 songs that will make up the week’s UMC20.

This is another edition that’s worth the wait. We’ve got some fresh, hot rock anthems; varying shades of Americana; all kinds of pop, soul, and R&B, and even a little bit of ambient electronica. This week’s playlist is a true variety pack!

UMC20: New Faces Week (June 14, 2022)

OK, so there are some familiar faces on this week’s UMC20… but for the most part, we have artists making their debuts on our weekly playlist.

This one’s also a rock fan’s dream — we’ve got all kinds of rock and roll and Americana flavors on this week’s edition, before things take a poppier turn later in the playlist. And, as is always the case, there are 20 good reasons to dig in!

Oh, and we’ve included a couple tracks in honor of our friends at On the Guest List…, who just welcomed The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney onto their podcast. Check it out here!

UMC20: The Best of May 2022

It’s been quite a month around these parts!

We enjoyed lots of live performances. We welcomed new submissions from all over the world. We had fun in the process.

Can’t ask for much more than that, right?

We feel good about where this summer is headed, and we’re here for wherever the adventure takes us. Today, it brings us to celebrate the UMC20 Best of May. Hear a sample of what the past month had to offer below!

UMC20: Packed with International Flavors and More (May 17, 2022)

We’ve got a lot of rock tunes from across the pond in the UK. In fact, this week’s UMC20 is frontloaded with ’em!

There’s more to the story, though — there are plenty of jams from right here at home, whether that means Nashville or somewhere else in the mainland U.S. We move beyond rock, as well, to give you some Americana, soul, pop, hip hop, and even some electronica!

UMC20: New Music in Bloom (April 19, 2022)

Spring is a time for renewal, and we’ve refreshed our UMC20 playlist with 20 more vibrant tracks of all shapes and sizes.

It feels cliche, at this point. We always try to bring you variety here, and this week is certainly one of the stronger examples of that in 3 1/2 years of weekly UMC20 playlists. It’s also hard to believe we’ve almost been in Nashville for 3 1/2 years, but that’s a story for another day.

The story today? The sonic magnificence that awaits you below!
