This past winter — before the end of the ‘rona times was in our sights — we got together with Nashville-based musicians Allison Mahal and Van Isaacson, just for the sake of recording an episode of The Quinn Spinn. We had no plan for the episode, and had no idea when it would even release, but hung onto it for a time when we wanted to delight you with an entertaining conversation.
That time is now. Plus, you’ll get to hear about all of our 2021 aspirations — many of which are on their way to coming true!
Earlier this fall, Casey Jo & The Friday Night Dads released their full-length debut, Twin Mind, combining honest Americana storytelling and indie rock grit, with shades of influences ranging from punk and alternative, to psych-rock and blues.
On this edition of The Quinn Spinn, the band joins us to discuss the creative process behind the album, and the melting pot of influences that led to its creation. Plus, we get a glimpse into the future, and discuss the distinct difference between the “two Nashvilles” we’ve all experienced.
Earlier this week, our friends in PuffHost — who you may have recently seen crushing it, Live from the 615 — welcomed me onto their new PuffCast podcast series to discuss what we do, why we do it, and life itself.
